The Supakit harness quick start guide

Congratulations on your new Supakit harness! Here's how to get the very best out of your new harness and use it safely.

Safety first

Important!

  • Always keep your cat under supervision and a safe distance from you, to avoid any dangerous or difficult situations.
  • Don't let your cat climb in a way that you cannot control.
  • Never tether your cat. Only use the Supakit harness connected to a leash held by an attentive human.
  • Make sure that your harness is not damaged before each use.
  • Ensure that you achieve a correct fit before each trip, and maintain a good leash position throughout.

The Supakit harness is specially designed to be secure for cats. To ensure the escape-proofing features function correctly, it is important to:

Putting the Supakit harness on

Adjusting the size

Adjusting cat harness straps

  • Slide the brass sliders up or down on the straps to lengthen or shorten
  • Adjust the left and right side equally, so that the harness stays centered on your cat's body.

  • Open the quick-release buckle & lay the harness down flat, with the inside facing up, and front of the harness facing away from you. The front of the harness has the Supakit logo embossed on it.
  • Position your cat with their front paws through the leg loops, then lift & fasten the buckle at the top.
  • If your cat is a little flighty, cradle them under their chest with one hand to raise their front paws, then drop their front legs through the leg loops and fasten.

Correct fit

Ensuring a good fit for your Supakit harness

To achieve the perfect fit, adjust the front and back straps so that you can slide one finger only between your cat's harness and their body when it is on. Adjust both sides equally so that the harness stays centered on your cat's body.

You can find more guidance on achieving the perfect fit, including edge cases and fine adjustments in our harness fitting guide.

If you have shortened all straps fully, and are still able to fit more than one finger between your cat's body and their harness when it is on, then your cat's harness is too large. Click below to book in a return on your original harness so that you can reorder in the smaller size that you need.

Cat getting used to harness

Good leash position

Good leash position

When walking with your cat, if the leash is taut and under tension, make sure that you keep it in the safe zone to avoid escapes.

Good leash position

If you accidentally find yourself with the leash taut in the red or amber danger zones, move towards your cat to release the tension on the leash, and reposition it so that the leash is back in the safe zone.
